Childcare Support
NAOJ’s Child Daycare Support System (for conferences/business trips)

This support system is meant to cover expenses of up to 10,000 JPY per day for temporary child daycare or babysitting services while attending a NAOJ-hosted conference or while on a business trip.

Eligibility*
  1. Those visiting NAOJ for attending or organizing NAOJ-hosted conferences, workshops, or other events
  2. Those visiting NAOJ to conduct joint research projects or open-use observations
  3. Those visiting NAOJ for attending or organizing the Special Open House Day
  4. Those others deemed by the Director General to be eligibl
 NAOJ employees (and students) who are raising preschool children and are in particular need of childcare services during a business trip

*In the U.S.A. and Chile, this support system is available for children under the age of 12.

Note that you are required to withhold tax and/or file a tax return upon using this system if you receive a salary from NAOJ. The amount of your subsidy will be added to your salary to calculate the withholding tax. When employees of other organizations use this system, they are required to complete tax procedures on their own.
