Faint Object Camera and Spectrograph (FOCAS) is an optical imaging spectrograph mounted on the Cassegrain focus of Subaru Telescope. It has been operated since the early phase of the open use of Subaru Telescope. FOCAS IFU has been developed since 2010 to add the integral field spectroscopy capability to FOCAS. More detailed information can be found in Ozaki et al. 2020, PASJ, 72, 97.

Basic instrument parameters

FOCAS IFU divides a field of view of 13."5 x 10."0 into 23 slices with a 0."435 width.
Slice number 23
Slice width 0.435"
Slice length 13.5"
Field of View 13.5" x 10.0"

FOCAS IFU have a slit mask to simultaneously obtain a sky spectrum 5.2' away from the object field.
