合同ALMA観測所では、3月17日にALMA Cycle 8 2021 Call for Proposals (観測期間 2021年10月1日～2022年9月30日のMain Call)を行いました。プロポーザル提出締切は4月21日です。詳しくはALMA Cycle 8 2021 Call for Proposals:https://almascience.nao.ac.jp/proposing/call-for-proposals をご覧ください。 このプロポーザル募集に関し、東アジア・アルマ地域センター（EA-ARC）では、3月22～23日にCycle 8 2021の説明会としてProposal Preparation Meetingをオンラインで開催します。Cycle 8 2021からプロポーザル審査方法が変更になることに伴い、プロポーザルの書き方のルールにも変更が生じます。また、昨年のCycle 8募集に含まれていない観測モードも新たに追加される予定です。皆様、ぜひご参加ください。

3月22日(月)のセッションでは、Call for Proposalsの概要(スケジュール、新観測機能、プロポーザル投稿に使用するObserving Tool)を説明し、質問を受け付けます。説明会に引き続き東アジア地域の傾向にもとづいたプロポーザル執筆方法の改善に関する講演を行います。その後に、オプションとして希望者に対してプロポーザル投稿ツールであるObserving Tool (OT)の約１時間のHands-onセッションを開催します（参加募集は既に締め切り）。

翌23日(火)朝にはALMA観測所のProposal Handling Teamによる新しいレビューシステムに関する説明及び質問受付を行います。こちらは台湾・韓国のユーザーも加えた東アジア全体での会合となります。

会合での講演は英語となります。

A Call for Proposals on ALMA Cycle 8 2021 (Main Call) was issued on March 17. The deadline for proposal submission is on April 21, 2021. East Asia ALMA Regional Center (EA-ARC) will hold a Proposal Preparation Meeting for the ALMA Cycle 8 2021 on March 22 and 23.  ALMA Cycle 8 2021 will start in October 2021 and runs for 12 months. Proposal Preparation Meeting consists of explanatory talks for the Cycle 8 2021 Main Call such as the schedule, documents, new capabilities, and the new review system. It also consists talks for writing competitive proposals with lectures on the statistics and tips. At the end of the morning of the 22nd, we will have an optional hands-on session for the ALMA Observing Tool (OT) mainly for beginners.

From 9:30 on the 23rd,  we will have a meeting for the new review system by the Proposal Handling Team at the ALMA observatory. This includes lectures and a Q&A time. Note that ALMA will introduce a distributed peer review system from Cycle 8 2021. A dual-anonymous review system will also be adopted, and thus we urge the proposers to study the new guidelines carefully.

These online meeting will be held in English. For the OT hands-on session which is held in small groups, participants can choose Japanese (Application for participation has already closed).
