Origin and History of ICOA
Origin
The concept of the International Conference on Oriental Astronomy (ICOA) was proposed by Prof. Nha Il-Seong in collaboration with Prof. Richard Stephenson,
and the first meeting (ICOA-1) was held in 1993.

An ICOA is basically intended to be held in a year in-between
two IAU General Assemblies.
History
The ICOA-1 meeting was held during 6-11 October, 1993
at Seoul, Korea.
